Happy BlasterVersary! 1 year of Fascia Blasting

Hey!!  I finished my first year of Fascia Blasting!  I promised that when I stared this process I would give my all .  I had my photoshoot last Sunday and I can tell you right now.. I have never said this.. I LOVE MY LEGS.

I was beyond bound and I just couldn’t get definition in my lower body. She gave me a protocol and I went to it.
This was day 1 and 6 months.

I am a pole dancer. I blast 4x a week for 15 min total. I also body build.
I do heart butt and bands. I have one big leg day that has focus on fixing the atrophy I found when I losened my fascia.
I do not put a barbell on my back anymore. I use leg extension, Leg press, squats on the cables, lots of band work.
I do band work 2 other days a week and pole 3 days a week.
I also lift my arms a 2x after pole. I do cardio 2x a week for 30 m in.
I am IIFYM and I eat what I want. I eat about 1800-2000 calories a day.
the most important thing for me to say is I’m competely chill about how long it has taken. I like blasting for just 15 min a day. I love my results. I’m ok with this. I blast for pain. I blast before I train and for sore muscles after I pole dance.

I am so happy and proud of my efforts. I chose these behind the scene pics because I didn’t realize my legs were coming along so well.  My legs are almost all smooth now.
I’m going to keep going.I’m grateful to Ashley Black for her science and girlfriend speak. I’m grateful to my friend Kelley Zuniga who is also on our bikini team.  She has encouraged mto to work through the atrophy and not give up.  She is a true motivator.  I’m grateful for pain relief and for new information that proves we can take care of our bodies from the inside out.
I will keep going!!

Fascia Blasting Update: 6 months

This is going to be a hard blog to write. I’m embarrassed, mortified and elated at the same time. I have not shared out in the open what has happened during my fascia blasting journey until today.

I want to back track a bit.  This will be very long so grab some coffee but I will be 100 percent honest about what I’ve gone through and how I got here.

I did my last bikini competition  late October 2016.  I knew I would be starting my fascia blasting journey and had planned on competing October 2017.  However, I realized that the only pro qualifier for my federation was June of 2017 so that cut 6 months off my fascia blasting time!  I would NOT have started if I had realized that. I wanted a full year to restructure my physique.  Mind you.. I am 51 years old. I feel great but I’m a next level kind of girl. I have struggled with my lower body for decades. My legs are clearly beyond bound in the below pictures.That means the fascia is really tight and no matter how lean I get, the muscles can’t be seen. It also leaves me lumpy!  Having bound fascia also means I’m not getting the muscle gains I want because the fascia is like a sausage casing and there’s not room to grow.

I also struggled my whole life with lose skin on my belly.
I’m not mad about this but I don’t want surgery . I was interested in seeing if I could tighten it up.

Blasting:
I sent my pictures to Ashley Black and she quickly returned a very long protocol for me which I have followed to the letter.
Yes, I am beyond bound (BB) and that is a pretty rough starting place.  I have taught impact workouts for 35 years. It makes sense that my fascia is jacked up.
That tummy area is a tough  area for me because when I gain inches it gets super fluffy but the skin is loose.

I have also worked with Ashley’s moderator,Kelley Zuniga. She is a competitive athlete as well and she gave me great advice for my  prep.  I had gone through a tough phase over Christmas where I was breaking up a lot of adheasons and felt fluffy as can be. I went from stage to loosey goosey.  I tend to get inflamed when I blast.  I’m not opting for a aggressive blasts.  It’s not right for me.

That demolition phase was pretty hard on my brain.   I’m telling you…

Did I bruise. I did for sure.   But I kept going.

Nutrition:
During that demolition phase I was still really struggling with low energy and detox symptoms.  I am an IIFYM girl and not a detox tea or magic solution believer. I drink my gallon of water every day . I probably ate too much over the holidays but  it wasn’t much over my macros.  I was pretty good this year. I’m just being honest.  I do not believe in “Clean” food but I eat for my nutrition and my food is gorgeous and amazing.  I had sugar  and soda and I like franken food like pop chips and protein bars and  Lenny and Larry’s cookies.   I get over 500g fruit and veggies per day and my fiber goals are on point. Protein is high and carbs are fueling my workouts and my life.  I do not believe in magic. I believe in science. #LearnIIFYM

Inner thighs. I brilliantly decided to pull my inner thighs tight while sitting on the side of the tub. I blasted them briskly and I got all the way to gravel in just a few weeks.  It wasn’t long before I saw them smooth and then I had a thigh gap. I looked down and saw that thigh gap and almost passed out.

Legs.. Ok. My legs are still a mess but they are better.  My hope is that I look better than last year on stage. I know I have a long way to go blasting but I’m not stopping.
I have broken up alot of stuff on my legs.  I can see my quad definition now. I blast around the quads and I also am fat lysing them.  They are coming a long.  Still bound.. yep.  But it’s better!!

Glutes Hammies: Oh boy. I’m painfully self aware of the work that has to be done in this area.  That hamstring is still pretty lumpy but I’m going to town on it.  My glutes are looking better.  Smaller yep and not as bound up but I’m ok with this.

I blasted my upper arms and rear delts too.  I’m eating a lot more food in 2017 than I was eating on my ‘clean’ food diet in 2014.   Overall my package is better because I’m blasting.
I can almost see my glute. I’m also blasting my “sweep” area and it is coming along.
I want you to know this.. As I have progressed, I am working on muscle activation rather than simply lifting. I train with intention. My glutes/hams are rock hard under the remaining body fat and they are becoming visible. I can feel them fire which I never could before. This is real.

So this what my abs look like now.  They look good all day.
No they are not 100 percent . I have some pebbles in that lower portion that was loose and it still puffs out sometimes. I’m not sure if all the loose skin will ever tighten up but I’m really willing to keep going.   I’m 5 weeks out from my show  in this picture.

I want to say here. I have been bullied (whatever) and called a liar my progress.
I have some great images on the web from photographers and so forth.  As a fitness competitor it would be uncool to show off the pictures that look yucky.  I am truthful in my business. I am a real person . I don’t sell the fascia blaster  but I am interested in science and health. I’m interested in learning how my body is changing from the inside out. I also want to be a better athlete and a better coach for my clients. Science drives this train.  So the reality is, we all have work to do. Progress!!

Blasting schedule: 
Daily or every other day 5 min per body part. I do my abs 4x a week which keeps me from feeling super tired this close to my show.
I carve my abs and arms and legs, especially my quads.

Fasica Blaster Update

If you are following my Fascia Blaster journey, this is a mini update since I had a bit of a break through today.

I’ve been blasting about 6 full weeks now.  I was beyond bound so I am slowly breaking up big old chunks of fat.  I am finding that my fasica is really still pretty tight. My abs are a wreck.  They are swollen. I see that after I blast, I do have some nice tightening!!

Anyway..I’m doing all of this in my off season so let the chips fall where they may. I will be golden in 1 year.

Ok.. Last week I blasted almost every day. I pay attention to my 
Quads
IT band
Heart butt blasting 
Hammies/glute ham tie in
I lightly blast over the peachy part so I don’t lose volume.
I also do my abs hard core.
My arms and waist and back. 

Blasting is like a whole workout!!  

Post blasting
I feel so drained and tired.  That’s the detoxing and it’s real. I feel like have felt a cold coming on,soooo tired.   On Thursday I went to the gym, then blasted. I was going to do a pole workout but couldn’t even get up off the couch!

I decided to wait a few days and see if I felt stronger again.  I blasted a little bit on Monday but it kicked my butt. I couldn’t even finish my blast!  That was the last time I blasted, or attempted to…

I took yesterday off.

Today was dead lift day and I felt great!  I PRd my lift at 145 and did about 20 reps so that’s  good.  But… here’s the kicker..

I felt my glutes like I seriously have never felt before ever every.  I felt my hammies, too. I cannot even believe how different it feels. I can feel more circulation and the muscles are firing so much better! I wanted to keep going because it felt so strange and good!!

I’m also noticing that while I’m swollen and puffy, my quads, hams and glutes are like rocks. I’m feeling them building!  So… that’s the news.

Progress!!

The girls on the Fascia blasters for women body builders echo this same thing. One thing I might have to do is blast and then lift lighter as the fasica that was so bound is loosening.
Feels crazy to be worn out so quickly.  I’m going to hope that the detoxing eases up.

I need to do better on my water!! Ok.. I’ll keep you updated!!

Fascia blasting : My First 30 days.

A few months ago, I happened upon a Facebook video from Ashley Black Guru and she was talking about the “cellulite myth”.  I  was mid prep so I just set that aside for later.

After my show though, I spent some time researching the science of Fascia and it started to hit home with me that this was something I needed to get to work on.

How I started: 
One of the first things I did was join the Fascia Blasters Facebook group and watched daily as hundreds of people were posting their progress!  I spent a lot of time on Ashley’s Youtube channel and finally sent her my show pics for her coaching advice.

She said
“Tracy to me your fascia looks “beyond bound” – so you don’t have much dimpling but your skin is in solid chunks and you probably have poor circulation, leg cramps, and feel tight and tired all the time. If you go to grab your skin and it feels like 1 solid piece and you can not separate it at all – that is beyond bound! Don’t worry – the FasciaBlaster WILL FIX IT – it’s just gonna get “uglier” before it gets better.”

She was right!  If I pinched my skin it was big chunks.  Everything she said was true. Tight and tired all the time.

After Blasting cream.

I received my blaster in 2 days!! The oil did not arrive until a week later so I started with the Moroccan oil my mama gave me. It worked great.
Ashley’s Fascia Blasting Oil is awesome too, but I use a lot so I also just got some Target body oil. Other  people use coconut oil or Massage oils.  Baby oil was awful so don’t use that.  So far, Ashley’s oil and my Moroccan oil were the best as they spread easily and the blaster glided well.

HEAT
It’s best to blast in heat.so we put a heater in the bathroom or I use the sauna.
It actually  does hurt and I bruised my first week, although I’m not bruised anymore.  I blast 4-5x a week. Sometimes I just do my legs and sometimes I do several parts. It takes me a good 20 min but I also can just blast my arms quickly in the shower.

It’s been about 3.5 weeks now 

Today, I sent her a follow up video and I was utterly mortified. Beyond Bound is about breaking up the fat so it does look chunky now!!
A large chunk of fat broke off on the back of my leg and is floating. It’s gross. It will eventually break up.

So after sending this video.. I’m curious to see what changes she has for me.

Good news: even though I’m looking rough, with Beyond Bound it will get worse before it gets better!!
 I’m 100 percent committed to working on this issue. I’m learning so much about how the fascia effects my body building and muscle gains! .  I want education and I want healthy fascia.  Fascia issues can cause  some crazy issues. LOOK  Look at this chart: 

Beginnings:
When I started I went through a full week of feeling pretty crummy and tired. That’s really normal.  I’ve noticed though my circulation is getting better.  Even though my abs, legs, glutes resemble mashed potatos… I am seeing quad definition coming through. I actually see positive changes.  I’m really in this for the long haul.

It’s probably odd that I didn’t post my personal pictures here. I’d like to do that after I have achieved progress.

As I work this next year to balance my body, with my training, chiropractic adjustments and stretching, Fascia Blasting makes sense to me. There is actually a body builder, competitors facebook group that I’m in for support too.  It’s interesting.
